German automotive supplier to open factory in Murray

MURRAY, KY (KFVS)Governor Steve Beshear joined company and local officials to announce iwis, a German automotive supplier, plans to establish its first U.S. manufacturing operation in Murray.

The Governor says the project will create 75 new, full-time jobs and entail a more than $12.5 million investment in the Commonwealth.

Gov. Beshear met with officials from iwis (pronounced ee-vis and written in lower case) to discuss the potential project during an economic development trip to Germany during the summer.

“I was very optimistic after meeting with iwis officials in Germany, and I’m thrilled with their decision to locate in Kentucky,” said Gov. Beshear. “This company further enhances Kentucky’s thriving automotive industry, and 75 jobs will have a powerful impact on the community, not only now, but for generations to come.”

Local, small business Black Friday sales

Local, small business Black Friday sales

With the holidays coming up fast, Black Friday will be here before we know it.

Every year we hear about the craziness at big name stores like Walmart, Target, etc. As a change of pace, we want to hear from local, small businesses and others in the community!

Will you be having any Black Friday sales or deals? If so, what are they? What are some tips you can give to people in your community wanting to shop more "local?"

If you're a local restaurant, will you have different hours and specials to cater to the Black Friday shoppers?

Is anyone in the community: churches, community centers, etc. offering babysitting for those that will be out in the early a.m. for shopping?
