McCracken County schools take home big competition wins

PADUCAH, KY (KFVS) - Middle school students from Paducah recently competed in the Regional Governor's Cup competition and took first and second place in the district. 

Lone Oak Middle School finished first in the district, followed by Heath Middle School in second and Murray Middle School in third. 

Other schools participating include Calloway County, Graves County, South Marshall, North Marshall, Ballard County Fulton City, Community Christian Academy, St. Mary, Fulton County, Mayfield, Benton, Carlisle County, Paducah, Reidland, Hickman County and Livingston County.

The Lone Oak Middle School Quick Recall team took top prize in the Quick Recall competition with Heath, Murray and Calloway middle schools finishing in the 2nd through 4th spots.

The Calloway County Middle School Future Problem Solving team finished first in the Future Problem Solving Competition followed by Heath, Lone Oak and South Marshall middle schools.

Mathematics assessment: 1st - Zach Althouse (LOMS); 3rd - Drew Schofield (LOMS); 4th - Alex Bohannon (HMS) Science assessment: 1st - Zach Althouse (LOMS); 2nd - Barton Christmas (HMS)) Social Studies assessment: 2nd - William Kitchen (LOMS); 3rd - Dustyn Hofer (LOMS); Language Arts assessment: 2nd - Mallory Thompson (LOMS) Arts & Humanities assessment: 1st - Sean Sieczka (HMS); 4th - Rachel Bell (HMS).
