The Kentucky Weiner Dog visits Sedalia Elementary

The Kentucky Weiner Dog visits Sedalia Elementary

GRAVES COUNTY, KY (KFVS) - Woody, the Kentucky Weiner Dog, sports goggles and poses with students from Sedalia Elementary, on a recent visit to the southeastern Graves County school.

Holding him up is his “mom” and author Leigh Anne Florence, a Murray native and Murray State University graduate. She has collaborated with Woody and his sister and business partner, Chloe, on a Newspapers in Education column that runs throughout the Commonwealth and a series of seven books.

Together, the duo shared with the students five ways to be successful, tied to respect and responsibility and based on ways both Florence and Woody have faced their own challenges in life.

“Woody’s a little, bitty guy, who was told he never would amount to anything,” Florence said, “but now he’s known and loved all over Kentucky. Just like Woody, these kids can do anything.”
