(KFVS) - The American Red Cross will be collecting and distributing cards that send words of encouragement, gratitude and cheer to America's heroes for the holiday season.

The Red Cross is inviting the public to send messages of thanks and holiday cheer until Dec. 7 by mailing them to:

To ensure that cards are delivered on time for the holidays, the Red Cross says they must be postmarked no later than Dec. 7. Individuals are asked to refrain from sending "care packages," monetary donations or using glitter or any other kinds of inserts with the cards.

According to the Red Cross, the company Pitney Bowes Inc. receives cards at the special Holiday Mail post office box, and screens them for hazardous materials. The company screens, packages and ships the cards at no charge.

MCCRACKEN COUNTY, KY (KFVS) - Western Baptist Hospital has reached the Top 10 in the Pink Glove Dance competition.

The hospital says voting has been extended to Nov. 2.

Buffalo Bills safety George Wilson, a Paducah native and son of Western Baptist nurse aide Wanda Wilson, has donated a game-worn jersey to be given to one lucky person who votes for the hospital’s Pink Glove Dance video. Details will be announced on Western Baptist’s Facebook page.

Western Baptist and Murray State’s video currently is in 9th place among 260 entries. Last year, Western Baptist finished sixth among 135 participants.

During Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the hospital uses the video to remind women to get annual mammograms for early detection. The top three vote-getters in the national video contest will receive prizes up to $10,000 for the breast cancer charity of their choice.
