Police: Tenn. man arrested at Murray shopping center with over 5 lbs of pot

MURRAY, KY (KFVS) - A Tennessee man was charged Tuesday with trafficking marijuana after an investigation by the Murray Police Department, the Pennyrile Narcotics Task Force and the Kentucky State Police.

According to police, Tyree Vaughn, 27 from Paris, Tenn., was found with over five pounds of marijuana on Jan. 22 at the Bel Aire shopping center in Murray.

Trafficking marijuana more than five pounds is a class C felony that carries a penalty of five to 10 years in prison.

Vaughn was taken to the Calloway County Jail.

2 arrested in Murray after police say they burglarized home multiple times

MURRAY, KY (KFVS) - The Murray Police Department has charged two suspects with multiple burglaries to one home.

Police say the house in Murray was burglarized at least once before Christmas 2012. They say the homeowner installed a video surveillance system in his home afterwards.

According to police, burglaries on Jan. 11 and 20 were captured by the video system. From the video, Detective Mike Robinson identified the suspects as Joshua Rayburn, 36, and Ashley Rayburn, 28, both from Murray.

Ashley Rayburn was charged with second degree burglary and Joshua Rayburn was charged with three counts of second degree burglary and one count of theft of a controlled substance.

Both were taken to the Calloway County Jail.

Murray mail carrier arrested after police investigate mail theft

CALLOWAY COUNTY, KY (KFVS) - A mail carrier has been charged with two counts of theft of mail matter after an investigation by the Murray Police Department.

Police say Thomas Centers, 46, of Murray was responsible for a mail route that covered portions of the south side of Murray. They say Centers was seen using a gift card that was taken from a birthday card that was mailed from a home in Murray to an address in Michigan.

When questioned, police say Centers admitted to several thefts of mail over the last several months. He was lodged at the Calloway County Jail.

Police chase in Calloway Co. leads to DUI, drug bust

CALLOWAY COUNTY, KY (KFVS) - A recent attempt at a routine traffic stop in Calloway County led to a high-speed chase, car crash and a bust for DUI and drug possession.

According to Kentucky State Police Post 1, Trooper David Dick saw a vehicle traveling on Sherman Road with a broken taillight.

Police say the driver failed to yield to the trooper. They say the driver, Kenton A. Doran, proceeded down Sherman Road, then made a left turn onto Kline Trail, then a left onto Shannon Creek Road where Doran failed to negotiate a curve and left the right side of the roadway hitting a tree, where the vehicle came to a final rest.

Doran was charged with No Tail Lamps, Reckless Driving, DUI 2nd Offense Aggravating Circumstances, Fleeing and Evading Police 1st Degree (Motor Vehicle), Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Failure to Notify DOT of Address Change, Possession of Controlled Substance,Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree.

Missing teen returns, 2 face charges in Murray

MURRAY, KY (KFVS) - The Murray Police Department says two people from Murray have been charged with custodial interference after a follow-up investigation into the disappearance of Samantha Birdsong.

Police say Christopher Davis, 18, and his mother Barbara Davis, 56, picked up Birdsong at her home during the night of Jan. 1-2. They say Barabara Davis then allegedly took Birdsong to Illinois.

Both Barbara and Christopher Davis were arrested and taken to the Calloway County Jail on Jan. 5.

According to police, 17-year-old Birdsong was discovered missing around Jan. 3 when she left a note saying she was headed "out west" and not to worry about her.

4 arrested on escape, drug charges in McCracken Co.

MCCRACKEN COUNTY, KY (KFVS) - The McCracken County Sheriff's Department arrested four people December 10 on various escape and drug-related charges.

On Dec. 10, deputies responded to 355 Mark Drive in the Lone Oak area on a tip from the Kentucky State Police that escapees from Calloway County were likely at the home.

Deputies spoke with the homeowner who gave consent to search it. The sheriff's department says they found several individuals in a back room of the home. Deputies say the individuals were guests of a family member of the homeowner.

2 arrested in meth lab investigation on Murray hospital property

MURRAY, KY (KFVS) - The Murray Police Department have arrested two in connection with a meth lab investigation.

Police say two officers were conducting a security check at an unoccupied house owned by Murray Calloway County Hospital when they discovered two people and a suspected Methamphetamine lab inside.

At approximately 6:30 a.m., the two officers discovered Thomas Broshears, 27, and Sheena Goodwin, 30, both of Murray, inside a closet in the building. Also in the closet, they officers say there were items commonly used in the making of Methamphetamine.

According to police, elsewhere in the house an active Meth lab was found. They say the building was evacuated, and an officer from the Pennyrile Narcotics Task Force responded and safely removed the active lab.
