2 arrested in meth lab investigation on Murray hospital property

MURRAY, KY (KFVS) - The Murray Police Department have arrested two in connection with a meth lab investigation.

Police say two officers were conducting a security check at an unoccupied house owned by Murray Calloway County Hospital when they discovered two people and a suspected Methamphetamine lab inside.

At approximately 6:30 a.m., the two officers discovered Thomas Broshears, 27, and Sheena Goodwin, 30, both of Murray, inside a closet in the building. Also in the closet, they officers say there were items commonly used in the making of Methamphetamine.

According to police, elsewhere in the house an active Meth lab was found. They say the building was evacuated, and an officer from the Pennyrile Narcotics Task Force responded and safely removed the active lab.

New Concord man charged with arson in grocery store fire

CALLOWAY COUNTY, KY (KFVS) - A New Concord man faces arson charges after fire of Hamlin One Stop Grocery.

Christopher A. Franklin, 46, of New Concord was charged with second degree arson, fraudulent insurance acts over $500, tampering with physical evidence and wanton endangerment first degree.

Police say Franklin was arrested on an indictment warrant on Monday, Dec. 10. They say the indictment stemmed from an Oct. 31 investigation where a fire heavily damaged the Hamlin One Stop Grocery. Franklin was taken to the Calloway County Jail with no bond.

The investigation is ongoing.

26-year-old charged with DUI after wreck on State Line Rd.

CALLOWAY COUNTY, KY (KFVS) - A Hazel woman was charged with DUI after driving off road and overturning Saturday night.

Kentucky State Police say Samantha Skipper, 26, was driving a 1993 Saturn west on State Line Road when she left the right side of the road, hit a ditch and overturned.

Skipper was charged with DUI, operating on a suspended license and failure to notify DOT of address change.

Police say she was treated at Murray Calloway County Hospital for minor injuries and released. They say at that time, she was taken to the Calloway County Jail.

HICKORY, KY (KFVS) – The Kentucky State Police, Post 1, realised their monthly activity report.

Activity for the month of November is as follows:

Kentucky State Police, Post 1, covers the 11 counties of Ballard, Calloway, Carlisle, Fulton, Graves, Hickman, Livingston, Lyon, Marshall, McCracken and Trigg. 

In 2012 there have been 56 people killed in fatal collisions in the Post 1 area. Of those who died, 28 were not wearing a seatbelt and five were not wearing a helmet.

Graves Co. deputies report 3 arrests from Friday

GRAVES COUNTY, KY (KFVS) - The Graves County Sheriff's Office report three arrests on Friday, one a police chase and the other two for drug trafficking.

Sheriff Dewayne Redmon says a man has been arrested and taken to the Graves County Jail after a vehicle pursuit and foot chase Friday around 9:30 pm.

According to Redmon, his dispatch received a call of a vehicle traveling south on US 45 from McCracken County in a white Cadillac. He says a deputy saw the vehicle on Paducah Road near the Dick Castleman Bypass and was able to catch up with the vehicle. The deputy saw the driver run the stop light at 8th and Broadway and tried to stop the vehicle with his emergency equipment. Redmon says the driver pulled over at the intersection of 8th and Water.

MURRAY, KY (KFVS) - Murray police arrested a 28-year-old man Sunday, October 28 for assault and cocaine trafficking.

Jason Wilkins of Murray was charged with second degree assault, first degree unlawful imprisonment and trafficking cocaine.

According to police, an officer was investigating the assault case against Wilkins and while serving an arrest warrant for him, the officer found a baggie of powder cocaine on a coffee table. The police department says some cash and another baggie with cocaine residue was also found. They say a total of $61 in cash and 4.5 grams of cocaine was collected.

Wilkins was taken to the Calloway County Jail.

Sheriff's Dept. asking for public's help with stolen checks, cash investigation

MCCRACKEN COUNTY, KY (KFVS) - The McCracken County Sheriff's Department is asking for the public's help with a an investigation into business checks and cash taken from a business.

According to the sheriff's department, on Oct. 15, JC Cates Construction reported several business checks (Regions Bank) and cash had been taken in a burglary. The business is located at 8765 Old Cairo Road and deputies say the business was entered by forcible entry. 

Deputies say the burglary possibly occurred the night of night of October 11 or the morning of the 12. They say on Friday, October 12, three Hispanic males cashed some of the checks at a Murray, Ky. bank. 

The McCracken County Sheriff’s Department asks that all banks and businesses in McCracken County and the surrounding areas, please be aware when accepting checks from JC Cates. Also, please attempt to identify the individuals and the vehicle(s) they are driving.
