Man charged with domestic violence after sheriff says he shot at his brother

CALLOWAY COUNTY, KY (KFVS) - A man was arrested Wednesday morning after Sheriff Bill Marcum says he and his brother argued and a shot was fired.

The sheriff's department received a call of shots fired at 94 East home on Wednesday. When they arrived, deputies say they found brothers Stanley Meadows, 52, and James Stephen Meadows, 55,  had been fighting and James Meadows assaulted his brother.

According to deputies, Stanley Meadows was trying to get into his vehicle when James Meadows came out of the house with a hand gun. He then fired shots in the direction of James Meadows.

James Stephen Meadows was arrested at his home for fourth degree assault domestic violence and taken to the Calloway County Detention Center.

The sheriff's department says the investigation is ongoing.

Murray man charged with drug, DUI charges after checkpoint stop

MURRAY, KY (KFVS) - A Murray man is facing DUI and drug charges after a checkpoint near Eggner's Ferry Bridge Sunday.

William Morris, 32, was arrested and charged with having an open alcohol container in a motor vehicle, no insurance and possession of a controlled substance.

Kentucky State Police say just before midnight on Sunday, July 1, officers were conducting a safety checkpoint on US 68 on the west end of Eggner's Ferry Bridge in Marshall County. During the checkpoint, a trooper say an open beer can in one of the car's passing through.

Police say the driver, Morris, was questioned about the open container and they determined he was driving under the influence. While arresting Morris, troopers found a white substance in his vehicle which field-tested positive for cocaine.

Morris was taken to the Marshall County Detention Center.

The investigation is ongoing by Trooper Michael Robichaud with the Kentucky State Police.

KSP: Mowing crew reports tools stolen overnight

CALLOWAY COUNTY, KY (KFVS) - The Kentucky State Police are looking for more information after a mowing crew reported several tools missing on Friday.

KSP says they received a call Friday morning of a theft from a mowing crew. They say the crew was mowing the right-of-ways and median on KY 80 at the Marshall and Calloway County line and stopped about 6 p.m. on Thursday. Police say the crew left the tractors on the side of the road and when they arrived at 6:30 a.m. Friday they found that tools, a John Deere tool box, grease guns and diesel fuel had been stolen from the tractors.

If anyone has information on these thefts, they are asked to call KSP at 270-856-3721. The investigation is ongoing by Trooper Russell Boyd.

Police look for boat taken from Murray business

MURRAY, KY (KFVS) - Kentucky State Police are investigating the theft of an aluminum fishing boat from a business on Highway 94 east of Murray.

According to police, the boat is believed to have been taken sometime between 5 a.m. and 8 a.m. Tuesday from Town and Country Yamaha.

The boat is described as a green 17’ Bass Tracker Grizzly. Attached to it was a 50 horsepower Mercury outboard motor. The boat was mounted on a matching green trailer which was also taken.

3 men arrested after metal stolen from house

CALLOWAY COUNTY, KY (KFVS) - Two Calloway County men and a Tennessee man face theft charges after Kentucky State Police say they stole metal from a home.

Kentucky State Police began investigating the theft from a home on Harmon Road on May 15.

Cameron Ditto, 18, of Murray and James Weatherford, 19, of New Concord are charged with theft over $500 and two counts of criminal trespassing.

Israel Copley, 19, of Puryear, Tenn. is charged with criminal trespassing.

Police arrest 1 man for meth, look for another after search of Boaz home

MCCRACKEN COUNTY, KY (KFVS) - The McCracken County Sheriff's Department arrested one man and is looking for another after an investigation and search of a Boaz home revealed meth was being sold there.

According to the sheriff's department, a lengthy investigation led detectives to get a search warrant for a Boaz home and business located at 7845 Wice Church Road in McCracken County near the Graves County line on Wednesday afternoon.

Tactical teams from McCracken and Marshall County Sheriff's Departments, as well as drug enforcement agents from both agencies searched the home at about 3 p.m. on Wednesday, May 2.

The sheriff's department says the investigation showed that meth was being sold there, as well as guns being owned and present during the illegal drug activity.

As officers entered the property, they say one man ran out of the side of the business into a very dense wooded area and escaped.

Three men arrested in Paducah on meth charges

PADUCAH, KY (KFVS) - The McCracken County Sheriff's Department says a multi-agency drug investigation has led to the arrests of three men Monday afternoon on meth-related charges.

Colby P. Mitchell, 31, of Murray, Ky. was arrested and charged with first degree meth trafficking, second offense in excess of 2 grams and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Steven D. Gipson, Jr., 34, of Benton, Ky. was arrested and charged with first offense meth trafficking in excess of 2 grams.

Howard T. Whyte, 42, of Dexter, Ky. was arrested and charged with first offense meth trafficking in excess of 2 grams.

Detectives with the sheriff's department began investigation after information alleging that Steven Gipson, Jr. of Benton, Ky. was involved in the sale of meth. As part of the investigation, detectives arranged to meet Gipson on Monday, Feb. 13 in Paducah at a gas station on Alben Barkley Drive to buy meth.
