KSP, Post 1 to hold Citizens Police Academy

(KFVS) - Kentucky State Police, Post One, is now accepting applications for the 2013 Kentucky State Police Citizens Police Academy.

The 10-week academy is slated to begin on Feb. 26 and conclude April 30. 

Students will meet Tuesdays from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., where they will learn about the many facets of the Kentucky State Police including patrol, criminal investigations, and drug investigations.

Students will also get to take part in simulated law enforcement training during the course.

The Academy's first week will be held at the Kentucky State Police Post on Highway 45 in Graves County. 

The following nine weeks of the academy will be held at the Graves County Board of Education building located at 2290 State Route 121 North in Mayfield.

Applications can be obtained by contacting the Kentucky State Police, Post One at 270-856-3721. Applications can also be obtained by visiting http://www.kentuckystatepolice.org/posts/post1.htm.

Anyone 18 years of age living within the Kentucky State Police, Post One district is welcome to apply.

They say there is no cost to attend. Class size will be limited to the first 30 approved applications.
