Murray hospital offers free wellness screenings in Feb. | Events

MURRAY, KY (KFVS) - The Murray-Calloway County Hospital's Wellness Works program will be offering three free community health screenings in February.

The screenings include:

• Friday, Feb. 1 - From 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. there will be a Go Red: Heart Disease Awareness Free Screening Event in the MCCH North Tower Lobby. Screenings include BMI, waist circumference, blood pressure and blood draw for fasting lipid panel and fasting blood sugar (the lipid and blood sugar screenings require a 12-hour fast of no food or drink except water).
• Thursday, Feb. 7 - From 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. and from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. there will be an appointment-only free screening event at the Center for Health and Wellness. Screenings offered include blood pressure, heel scan for osteoporosis, BMI and blood sugar. Call 270-762-1348 to register.
• Thursday, Feb. 14 there will be free diabetes screenings offered at the Weaks Center in Murray from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

The screenings are free to the communities visited by Wellness Works and are provided to detect diseases in the earliest stages when there are often no symptoms.
