CCHS band members recognized at banquet

MURRAY, KY (KFVS) - Six senior band members at Calloway County High School were recognized at the Band Banquet for their GPA.

The six seniors all had a grade point average of 4.0 and received the Outstanding Academic Achievement Award.

MHS cross country team hosts 5K Fun Run

MURRAY, KY (KFVS) - The Murray High School will host their second annual 5K Fun Run on May 21.

The run will help raise money for the team's 2011 track season.

Registration begins a 8 a.m. and the run will start at 9 a.m. If you register by May 15, the cost of the run is $20 and you are guranteed a t-shirt in your size, after that it will cost $25. You can register online, in the MMS office or from Elaine Kight by clicking here if you are a business owner and would like to sponsor the run.

The 5K is a 3.1 mile race and proceeds will go to pay for transportation and lodging during the season.

Veterans visit Calloway County Middle School

MURRAY, KY (KFVS) - Veterans visit the eighth grade class of Calloway County Middle School.

Veterans Howard Cross, WWII and Vietnam; Sam Warner, Korea and Vietnam and Richard Henneberger, Vietnam visited Robin Simmons' class to answer questions from the students.

The veterans also gave a perspective on military service during the time of war and discussed issues concerning veterans.

Calloway Co. high school helps Ala. tornado victims

MURRAY, KY (KFVS) - Students at Calloway County High School helped load more than 300 t-shirts to send to their fellow high school students in Alabama devastated by the recent tornados.

The t-shirts were collected by their respective club members.

CCHS Laker band performing at Kentucky Derby parade

MURRAY, KY (KFVS) - The Calloway County High School Laker band will perform in the Kentucky Derby Festival Pegasus Parade in Louisville, Ky. on Thursday.

The Laker band was one of about a dozen chosen from hundreds of applicants.

The Pegasus Parade is the oldest derby event and is held annually on the Thursday before the Kentucky Derby. It starts at Campbell, parades down Broadway and ends at 9th Street.

The parade will feature colorful floats, marching bands, giant inflatable cartoon characters, equestrians and celebrities.

Calloway Co. High School FBLA sets school record

Calloway Co. High School FBLA sets school record

MURRAY, KY (KFVS) - The Future Business Leaders of America at Calloway County High School set a school record on March 23.

The record was set at the Region One Academic Competition when 23 business students won awards and advanced to the state level.

The chapter also won first place in the region for having the largest membership with 191 members.

CCHS taking nominations for council

MURRAY, KY (KFVS) - The Calloway County High School will be taking nominations for the School-Based Decision Making Council.

Nominations will be accepted until 3:30 p.m. on April 25 and the election will be on Thursday, April 28.

Parents and guardians of students who go to the high school for the 2011-2012 school year are eligible to run and vote.

You can pick up a nomination form and informational sheet in the school's office located at 2108 College Farm Road, Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
